Reflection 2 (PLN)

I know it's becoming very redundant of me to say, but the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in many negative changes to the education system. Students all around the globe have been dealing with the negative effects of the pandemic and virtual learning for the last few years and will continue to deal with these effects for years to come. One of the biggest issues that we have been dealing with at my school, that I have made efforts to try and mitigate, is chronic absenteeism. The goal was to develop daily bell ringer activities that are fully digitized and accessible when in class. The process for this instructional plan was one that I feared would be a difficult one to get approved by my school administrative team due to the nature of the assignment resulting in grades being impacted negatively in the short-term. I was pleasantly surprised to find out, after reaching out to my administrative team, that this idea was one that they were in favor of and willing to try. I have since implemented the process for this plan in all of my classes and I am excited to see the long term effects of it on student attendance. I have high hopes that this plan will improve upon our high rate of chronically absent students. Many educators fear the advancement of technology development in the classroom, but I truly believe that, if used effectively, technology can only improve upon all aspects of the classroom environment.
